Job summary

State of South Carolina’s Department of Transportation seeks a maintenance worker to support road and bridge upkeep on the state highway system. Under supervision, you perform a wide range of manual and equipment-driven tasks, including pothole patching, sign installation, drainage work, and vegetation management.

You will operate trucks and heavy equipment, assist with snow removal, and participate in emergency or weather-related operations.

Qualifications

• No minimum training or experience required for this classification.
• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• CDL Class A must be attained within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on roads and bridges on the state highway system.
• Operate dump trucks and flatbed trucks to haul materials.
• Perform vegetation management and sign maintenance to improve visibility.
