Job summary

The State of South Carolina in Lexington seeks an equipment operator for the Lexington Maintenance Pelion Section to haul materials, perform required maintenance, and support drainage and road shoulder work. You will follow safety procedures, drive defensively, and assist with traffic control in varying weather and traffic conditions.

Applicants must hold a valid driver's license and obtain a Class A CDL within six months. Lifting up to 50 lbs and outdoor work are expected aspects of the role.

Qualifications

• No formal minimum training or experience required for this classification.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required on entry.
• Must obtain CDL Class A within six months of placement.
• Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs and working outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Operate a 5 yard truck to haul pipe, debris, signs and equipment to and from job sites.
• Perform preventative maintenance on truck and keep maintenance records.
• Drive defensively and cooperate with crew on drainage ditch work.
• Assist with traffic control devices per SC MUTCD and flag traffic as instructed.
• Operate motor grader and tandem truck as needed for road maintenance.
