Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is hiring at the Lexington Maintenance West Columbia Section Shed for an equipment operator who will drive a 5 yard truck to haul pipe, debris, signs, and equipment to job sites.

Responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, operating backhoe work, and setting up traffic control per SC MUTCD, with occasional overtime or extended shifts during emergencies.

Qualifications

• No minimum training requirements; a valid CDL-A is required within six months.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and operate heavy equipment.
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license required on entry.

Responsibilities

• Operate a 5 yard truck to haul pipe, debris, signs and equipment to and from job sites.
• Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and keep maintenance records.
• Assist with backhoe operations to maintain shoulders, ditches and earth roads.
