Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation in Fort Worth is seeking a Transportation Maintenance Tech III or IV to perform complex roadway maintenance, inspect contracts, and operate heavy equipment. Training, uniforms, and CDL-related opportunities are provided.

Salary ranges from $45,521 to $76,028 yearly, with benefits and per-diem where applicable. Roles include supervising small teams or projects, ensuring safety standards, and supporting public safety during incidents.

Qualifications

• Two levels: Tech III requires 2 years of related experience; Tech IV requires 3 years.
• Class A CDL is required at time of application; must obtain an 'N' endorsement within 120 days.
• Valid driver’s license and CDL required; ability to drive state vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Inspect traffic control devices and placements for compliance with TXDOT standards.
• Maintain highways and rights-of-way; perform roadway repairs and operate light/heavy equipment.
• Maintain project records and assist with contract inspections; train other staff.
• Assist with traffic control and provide support to public during emergencies; coordinate with law enforcement when needed.
• May lead small maintenance projects and ensure work meets specifications.
