Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation in San Saba is hiring Transportation Maintenance Tech I/II to support roadway maintenance and public safety. The role involves operating light and heavy equipment, performing preventative maintenance, and assisting with traffic control and emergency response.

The position offers CDL training with $0 upfront costs, lodging and per-diem if needed, and a schedule that is typically Monday to Friday, 7am–3:30pm.

Qualifications

• TMT I = No experience required
• TMT II = 1 year experience in transportation engineering support, roadway maintenance, construction inspection, heavy equipment operation, or related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in identifying, repairing and installing signs, delineators, mailbox supports and posts; basic welding as needed.
• Assist with traffic control; place and gather cones, warning signs and barricades; flags traffic.
• Determine placement of traffic control devices and install/move devices.
• Inspect barricades for compliance with standards.
• Maintain highways and rights-of-way; perform roadway repairs; erect/repair guard rails and signs; haul materials and equipment.
• Move/pick up litter and roadway debris.
• Operate light equipment (front-end loader, roller, broom, spreader box, backhoe, street sweeper, mower).
• Perform PMI inspections, routine servicing and minor repairs; complete required reports.
