Job summary

The Athens Maintenance Office of the Texas Department of Transportation is hiring Transportation Maintenance Tech I or II. This outdoor role supports roadway maintenance, equipment operation, and traffic control with a strong emphasis on safety.

Training is provided, including CDL training with lodging and per-diem if needed. Positions require working day shifts in Athens, TX, with a 4/10 schedule, onsite work, and opportunities for career advancement within TxDOT.

Qualifications

• No experience required for TMT I; 1 year experience for TMT II in transportation engineering support, roadway maintenance, or related work.
• Must have a Commercial Class A Driver's License with an N Endorsement, or obtain CDL A within 120 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist in roadway maintenance, repairs, and sign-related tasks.
• Operate light to heavy equipment as needed for maintenance.
• Perform PMI and other required reports.
• Assist with traffic control and public safety during emergencies.
