Texas Department of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Maintenance Tech I/II/III to perform routine transportation operations and maintenance support. The role involves traffic control, highway upkeep, and assisting the public during emergencies, with routine interactions with private entities.

Work typically follows standard practices under limited supervision. The position emphasizes safety, efficient maintenance of roadways, and timely reporting of equipment and activities.

Responsabilités

• Assists with traffic control; places and gathers cones, warning signs and barricades; flags traffic.
• Maintains highways and rights-of-way; performs roadway repairs; erects and repairs guard rails, highway markers and signs; hauls materials and equipment to job sites.
• Maintains picnic and rest areas, rights-of-way, maintenance yards and comfort stations.
• Moves/picks up litter and roadway debris.
• Mows rights-of-way and picnic/rest areas; performs landscape maintenance including trimming trees and brush.
• Operates light equipment such as a front-end loader, pneumatic roller, rotary broom, spreader box, backhoe, street sweeper, and mower.
• Performs preventive maintenance inspections (PMI), routine servicing and minor repairs on equipment and completes required reports.
