Job summary

The Ohio Department of Transportation, District 03, is seeking a Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 or Highway Technician 1 in Erie County. This full-time role is based at the District 3 Garage in Milan, OH, with duties including highway maintenance tasks and CDL training as needed.

The position offers comprehensive benefits, a 7:00 am–3:30 pm schedule, and union affiliation with OCSEA. Primary location is Milan, Ohio, supporting safer roads and public service.

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic and basic English; CDL with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
• Formal education in arithmetic, decimals, percentages and fractions; 3 months training or experience in operation of basic equipment; valid Class B CDL with tanker endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Serve the public and help make Ohio roads safer.
• Attend CDL training if not licensed.
• Perform highway maintenance tasks: flagging, pothole patching, guardrail repair, litter pickup, mowing.
• Perform snow and ice operations.
