Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. in Butler, PA is seeking a Field Operations Manager to directly supervise employees and activities in the Maintenance of Way Department.

This role oversees day-to-day maintenance and repair activities and coordinates with other departments to keep operations efficient. You will lead the Region's M/W team, manage hourly craft staff and supervisors, ensure safety compliance, and align with track, signal and capital project goals while controlling costs and staffing

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of rail industry experience.
• Associate's degree or equivalent; engineering field preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Directs day-to-day oversight of maintenance and repair activities in the Maintenance of Way functions.
• Interfaces with other departments to ensure efficient and organized railroad operations.
• Manages department to meet track, signal, and capital project service goals.
• Performs supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and laws.
• Leads and manages daily activities of the Region's M/W Department and its hourly craft staff and supervisors.
• Fills vacancies in compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
• Enforces safety procedures and PPE usage and keeps required records.
• Monitors and controls maintenance costs for the Department.
• Ensures department meets track, signal, and capital project goals.
• Involves interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and evaluating staff.
