Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a crew leader to oversee skilled manual labor in grading ditches for pipe installation and drainage construction. Qualifications

• Two years of related work experience.
• Requires a valid motor vehicle operator’s license; must obtain Class A CDL within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Lead crew performing skilled manual labor in grading ditches for pipe installation and construction of drainage structures.
• Operate a backhoe and coordinate traffic control devices to set up maintenance work zones.
• Inspect roads for potholes and hazards; operate a tandem truck to haul materials and assist in emergency operations.
• Maintain reports, time sheets, and cost records; may be assigned to overtime, nights, or weekends during hazards or emergencies.
