Job summary

The City of Charlotte is seeking a Supervisor to lead a 1-2 person crew in roadway maintenance and repair. The role includes equipment operation, coordinating activities, and recording labor and material usage for jobs completed.

Responsibilities include directing workers, ensuring OSHA compliance, and preparingdaily reports. The position requires CDL, 18 months of related experience, and willingness to on-call for a week at a time.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.
18 months of general construction, labor, and maintenance experience.
Valid Class A CDL with ability to obtain and maintain City Driving Permit.
CDL tanker endorsement within 6 months of hire.
Background checks and pre-employment drug screen required.
Must be on-call for one-week periods.

Responsibilities

Supervises/participates in field operations that include maintenance and repair.
Operates heavy equipment, trucks, shovels, and related tools.
Prepares estimates of time and materials for jobs.
Maintains equipment in daily operation.
Ensures work is completed to schedule and standards.
Directs workers in transportation services and material use.
Creates daily reports and Cityworks entries.
Communicates with the public about construction projects.
Trains and develops employees as needed.
