Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation in Palestine, TX is hiring a Transportation Maintenance Crew Chief to lead a maintenance crew, schedule daily work, and coordinate resources during emergencies. The role requires at least 5 years in roadway maintenance, a valid driver's license and a Class A CDL.

Qualifications

• 5 years experience in roadway maintenance related work.
• Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications: related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

Responsibilities

• Leads a crew of transportation maintenance technicians and equipment operators.
• Schedules daily work assignments; acts as a resource for complex questions and troubleshooting; presents updates to the supervisor; assists with career conversations and leave approvals.
• Assists during accidents and emergency weather situations to sand bridges and roads and put up warning signs, and organize response of crews.
• Monitors materials testing and inventory of roadway maintenance materials.
• Oversees the work of designated maintenance inspectors and sign technicians.
• Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
