Job summary

Civil Science is seeking a Transportation Design Division Manager to lead and grow our transportation design practice in North Dakota, balancing technical excellence with client-facing leadership and a stake in an employee-owned firm.

You’ll guide project managers, oversee multiple projects, drive quality and business development, and help expand our market presence while mentoring staff and upholding our CORE values of Community, Ownership, Relationships, and Excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license for North Dakota required.
• 10+ years of experience in transportation design or related infrastructure.
• Experience managing teams and leading complex projects.
• Strong understanding of project management principles (budgeting, scheduling, QA/QC).
• Experience working with NDDOT and/or public agency clients.
• Proficiency in relevant design and production tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Transportation Design Division, including project managers and design staff
• Oversee multiple transportation design projects, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget performance
• Serve as a senior client contact for transportation-related work
• Support and drive business development efforts, including client relationships and pursuits
• Collaborate with leadership to grow the transportation division and expand market presence
• Mentor and develop staff, fostering a strong team culture and technical excellence
• Ensure consistent application of QA/QC processes and high-quality project delivery
• Balance strategic leadership with hands-on involvement in project oversight
