Job summary

Benesch is seeking a Transportation and Highway Design intern for the summer of 2026 to contribute to highway and roadway design, traffic analysis, and plan preparation under guidance from senior engineers.

You will gain hands-on experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD Civil 3D, participate in construction documentation, and collaborate across project teams to deliver solutions for state and local transportation projects.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Strong interest in highway, roadway, or transportation engineering.
• Familiarity with design software such as MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D; related experience a plus.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Organizational skills to handle multiple assignments efficiently.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Work with experienced Transportation and Highway Design Professionals on highway/roadway projects.
• Assist with traffic analysis and plan preparation for design projects.
• Gain hands-on experience in engineering design software, construction documentation, and collaborative project delivery.
