Job summary

BGE, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineer to contribute to highway and roadway planning and design, using MicroStation and OpenRoads 3D modeling, with attention to geometry and plan deliverables. The role requires applying codes and adapting engineering techniques to meet project needs.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, FE exam passed (EIT/I.E. preferred), and 1–4 years of Transportation/Roadway design experience, plus familiarity with PS&E processes and strong communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• FE Exam passed; EIT or Engineering Intern is preferred.
• 1–4 years of experience as a civil engineer in Transportation/Roadway Design.
• Experience with PS&E processes is preferred.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and ability to apply engineering techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs engineering associated with highway / roadway planning and design including horizontal and vertical geometry, Microstation and/or OpenRoads 3D modeling, retaining wall layouts, quantity calculations, miscellaneous details, and final plan deliverables.
• Interprets and applies applicable codes and exercises judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
• Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates engineering work involving conventional practices but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements.
