Job summary

BGE, Inc. is seeking a Roadway/Transportation Engineer (EIT) to join our civil engineering team in Texas. You will work on highway planning and design, including geometry, 3D modeling, and plan deliverables, applying codes and adapting techniques as needed.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, FE exam (EIT preferred), and 1–4 years of roadway design experience, with knowledge of PS&E processes and standards. Strong communication skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Must have passed the FE Exam; EIT or EI preferred.
• 1–4 years of civil engineering experience in Transportation/Roadway Design.
• Familiarity with State DOT and local standards is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads is preferred.

Roadway/Transportation Engineer (EIT)

Responsibilities

• Performs engineering associated with highway / roadway planning and design including horizontal and vertical geometry, Microstation and/or OpenRoads 3D modeling, retaining wall layouts, quantity calculations, miscellaneous details, and final plan deliverables.
• Interprets and applies applicable codes and exercises judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
• Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates engineering work involving conventional practices but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• Must have passed the FE Exam; registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) is preferred.
• 1-4 years of experience as a civil engineer in Transportation/Roadway Design projects
• Experience with relevant State DOT and local county/municipality standards is preferred.
• Knowledge of PS&E Processes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads 3D Modeling software
