Job summary

Summit Design and Engineering Services seeks a field Inspector to assist with roadway and structure inspections, collect materials samples, read blueprints, and perform calculations under supervision. The role requires math proficiency, plan interpretation, and strong report writing.

You will handle field measurements, maintain daily logs, and ensure compliance with project specifications while working outdoors in varying weather conditions and communicating with agencies and contractors.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Proficient with iPad, MS Office, Outlook, Dropbox and/or OneDrive.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform required testing and maintain detailed reports.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
• Must be able to walk over rough terrain and stand long hours.
• Must lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in various weather.

Responsibilities

• Assist in inspection of roadways and structures and perform calculations with supervision.
• Perform materials sampling and testing.
• Collect weigh tickets and conduct roadway tests to meet specs.
• Monitor and perform inspection work on highway projects.
• Maintain daily records and prepare monthly project estimates.
• Take field measurements and calculate contract pay quantities.
• Read plans and blueprints.
