Job summary

Summit Design and Engineering Services seeks a Field Inspector/Technician to support highway project inspections under supervision. You will assist in inspections, perform calculations, collect data, and help ensure materials meet specifications.

The role requires reading plans, working outdoors in varying weather, and communicating with agency and contractor staff. Level II–IV technicians with progressive experience may lead teams on complex projects.

Qualifications

• Math skills including algebra, geometry and trigonometry and applying formulas.
• Ability to read roadway, bridge and structure plans and contract specs.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform required testing and maintain detailed reports.

Responsibilities

• Assist in inspection of roadways and structures under supervision; perform calculations.
• Perform materials sampling and testing; collect weigh tickets.
• Monitor and perform inspection work on highway projects; prepare monthly estimates.
