Job summary

Summit Design and Engineering Services seeks an Inspector/Technician to support roadway and bridge inspections in Fort Mill, SC. You will assist with field testing, data collection, and preparation of project estimates, reading plans and blueprints to ensure compliance with specifications.

The role requires ability to work outdoors in varying weather, lift up to 50 lbs, and communicate with agency and contractor personnel. Certifications in roadway testing are preferred.

Qualifications

• Mathematics literacy including algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
• Proficient with iPad and cloud/office tools.
• Ability to work independently and make sound judgments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read roadway, bridge and structure plans.

Responsibilities

• Assist in inspection of roadways and structures with supervision.
• Perform materials sampling and testing.
• Collect weight tickets and conduct roadway tests to meet specs.
• Monitor and perform inspection work on highway projects.
• Maintain daily records and prepare monthly project estimates.
• Take field measurements and calculate contract pay quantities.
• Read plans and blueprints.
