Job summary

Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking a field technician to assist in inspections of roadways and structures, perform calculations under supervision, and collect materials data.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Strong math skills in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Ability to read roadway, bridge and structure plans and contract specifications.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in inspecting roadways and structures with supervision.
• Perform materials sampling and testing.
• Collect materials weigh tickets and conduct roadway tests to meet specifications.
• Monitor and perform inspection work on highway projects.
• Maintain daily project records and prepare monthly estimates.
• Take field measurements and calculate contract pay quantities.
• Read plans and blueprints.
