Job summary

Kimley-Horn’s Austin, Texas office is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 2+ years of experience to join the Roadway team. This is not a remote position, based in Austin, TX.

The role involves supporting roadway design tasks, including alignments, drainage, and multimodal design, while receiving on-the-job training and mentorship. ABET-accredited degree and EIT/Intern certification (or within 12 months) are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience with a civil engineering design firm.
• Bachelor's or Master's in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited university.
• Engineer-In-Training or Engineering Intern certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
• Working knowledge of MicroStation/InRoads/OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
• Strong sense of urgency to meet client deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
• Ability to work independently and as a team.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of civil engineering tasks for roadway projects, including alignments, grading and drainage, streetscape improvements, and multimodal design.
• Develop multimodal designs, including multi-use trails and complete streets.
• Create signage, striping and signal plans.
• collaborate with project managers, receive training and mentorship, and gain exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions.
