Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks an equipment operator to perform skilled manual labor and operate medium equipment for road and bridge maintenance. Responsibilities include grading, pouring and finishing concrete, maintaining shoulders and drainage, and supporting traffic control during work zones.

Candidates must have at least six months of related work experience and hold a valid driver’s license, with a Class A CDL to be obtained within six months.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of related work experience or equivalent.
• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Operate medium equipment such as tandem dump trucks, rollers, skid steers, and related tools.
• Perform maintenance tasks and assist with road, drainage, and bridge upkeep.
• Assist with traffic control devices and act as a flagger in work zones.
