State of South Carolina is seeking a Highway Maintenance Worker for the South Carolina Department of Transportation in Greenville. You will perform skilled manual labor in road and bridge maintenance, mowing, brush management, and vegetation control, using hand tools and medium equipment, and help set up work zones per the SCDOT manual.

The role requires at least 6 months of related experience or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain a Class A CDL within six months.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Responsabilités

• Performs skilled manual labor in a variety of activities associated with construction, repair, and preservation of roads and bridges on the state highway system.
• Mowing, brush management, and clearing line of sight; uses hand tools.
• Operates medium equipment such as tandem dump truck and tractor with large mower for vegetation control.
• Coordinates placement of traffic control devices to set up maintenance work zones according to SCDOT manuals.
• Removes litter, debris, and dead animals; assists supervisor with after-hours emergencies as needed.
• May be required to work extended hours or 12-hour shifts; lifts heavy objects.
