Job summary

Serco Inc. in Baton Rouge, LA, is hiring a MAP Operator to monitor highways, respond to incidents, and coordinate with police and responders. The role includes providing roadside assistance and traffic management as part of the MAP program.

The position requires a high school diploma, valid LA driver’s license, and ability to work outdoors and pass training to become certified. Flexibility with shifts and up to 50 lbs lifting is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0-2 years’ incident management or related field.
• Must possess a valid Louisiana driver’s license.
• Availability to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Able to work outdoors and lift 50 lbs.
• Able to speak English (Bilingual is a plus).
• Minimum age requirement of 21.
• Must pass classroom and field training to be certified.

Responsibilities

• Monitor state highways for crashes, disabled/abandoned vehicles, debris, and lane-closing events.
• Provide roadside assistance (changing tires, battery jumps, fuel, debris removal).
• Work closely with police and other first responders at highway incidents.
• Provide incident response, on-scene traffic control and limited first aid.
• Provide Traffic Incident Management (TIM) services.
• Use two-way radio or smartphone to coordinate with TMC and police.
• Observe safety procedures at all times.
• Complete training to be certified as a motorist assistance operator.
