Job summary

The Tarrant County Transportation Department is seeking a full-time incident response operator to patrol assigned highway routes, assist motorists, and coordinate with law enforcement and the Transportation Management Center to maintain traffic flow. The role involves outdoor work in various weather conditions and requires readiness for overtime, weekends, and night shifts.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License, Class C or above.
  • Technical training preferred in transportation/traffic/incident management.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to accidents/incidents on highways and plan action to remove the incident.
  • Communicate using phonetic alphabet and 10-codes with radio equipment.
  • Assist motorists with disabled vehicles and clear roadway as needed.
  • Operate and maintain incident response vehicle per PMI policies.
  • Observe traffic controls and report major problems.
  • Ensure safety regulations are followed to protect employees and the public.
  • Move litter and debris to maintain a safe thoroughfare.
  • Assist in sanding bridges and roads and posting warning signs during emergencies.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
