Job summary

Personnel Board of Jefferson County seeks a Construction Supervisor for the Roads & Transportation department. The role oversees paving operations, drainage, culverts, and related construction activities, guiding crews and ensuring safety and quality on site.

Responsibilities include planning assignments, monitoring progress, coordinating across departments, and resolving issues per policy. Work involves outdoor sites, traffic control, and demanding deadlines with strong leadership required.

Qualifications

• Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License.
• Experience with heavy road construction, paving, culverts or storm sewer work.
• Experience operating mid to heavy construction equipment.
• Experience leading crews and coordinating maintenance/construction tasks.
• Experience setting up traffic work zones with safety equipment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, assign, and supervise crews on roads, paving, culverts, and drainage projects.
• Direct and participate in demolition, construction, and repair tasks per standards.
• Coordinate daily activities, review work orders, and prepare equipment and materials.
• Ensure safety protocols and regulatory compliance during field operations.
• Monitor crews, provide feedback, and train staff as needed.
• Oversee end-of-day tasks including cleanup, headcount, and reporting.
