Job summary

David Evans and Associates, Inc. (DEA) invites an Engineer-in-Training to join its Inland Northwest Roads and Highways team, serving Tri-Cities, Spokane, WA and surrounding areas.

You’ll work with experienced engineers to develop roadway and multimodal projects and gain hands-on experience with design software. The role emphasizes mentorship, learning, and progressing to greater responsibility as you contribute to design calculations, construction documents, and coordination across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 0–3 years of Civil Engineering experience.
• Exposure to OpenRoads Designer and Civil 3D through experience or coursework.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively, manage tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Support the planning and design of roadway, highway, intersection, and transportation projects.
• Prepare design calculations, exhibits, plan sheets, details, quantities, and cost estimates under supervision.
• Develop and revise engineering plans using OpenRoads Designer and/or Civil 3D.
• Review maps, survey information, reports, and other design data.
• Assist with construction documents, technical reports, specs, and project documentation.
• Coordinate with disciplines across multidisciplinary projects.
• Assist with utility conflict identification and coordination with agencies.
• Support project organization, document control, and quality reviews.
• Assist with construction-phase services, including RFIs and site visits.
• Perform construction inspection when needed and participate in meetings.
