Position Purpose: The Road Technician performs service and repairs on material handling and/or aerial equipment at customer sites to ensure that equipment continues to run according to manufacturer’s specifications. Ensures all Briggs Equipment standards are adhered to and executed consistent with company direction.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties:

• Diagnose and repair equipment, including liquid propane, gas, and diesel engines, electric motors, transmissions, drive axles, differentials, hydraulic systems, brake systems, steering systems, electrical systems, lifting systems, etc.
• Rebuild and/or repair all components and systems in industrial material handling and aerial equipment and other related equipment.
• Follow safety guidelines to properly block, chock, and chain equipment, and disassemble equipment as needed for major repairs.
• Perform routine and operational maintenance to ensure equipment functions properly.
• Perform diagnostic troubleshooting and failure analysis.
• Conduct equipment inspections to identify potential issues and safety concerns.
• Perform basic welding as required.
• Document maintenance and repairs accurately and timely.
• Complete technical training as assigned.
• Maintain necessary parts and supplies.
• Ensure company vehicle is clean, in safe condition, and complete vehicle checklists.
• Participate in safety meetings and promote a safety culture.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Mechanical or trade school certification preferred.
• At least 3 years’ experience in forklift repair or related industry.
• Ability to read precision instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, etc.
• Welding and fabrication skills preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent standing, walking, lifting, twisting, and bending.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Own tools required.
• Availability for 24/7 on-call work.
• Travel to customer sites is required.
