Job summary

Bexar County is seeking a Field Maintenance Worker to help with general park and facility upkeep across county sites. The role involves routine grounds work, equipment operation, and basic repairs in outdoor settings.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or GED and at least one year of maintenance experience, plus knowledge of gardening equipment, safety standards, and the ability to follow instructions. A Texas driver’s license is required; on-call duties apply.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required; one year experience in lawns, grounds or maintenance.
  • Knowledge of gardening, trimming and cutting equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and practices.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work in any park.

Responsibilities

  • Performs manual labor at construction sites and assists maintenance crew in road and park upkeep.
  • Mows, trims lawns, shrubs and trees; maintains gardening equipment and tools.
  • Patches and repairs concrete; minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry tasks.
  • Paints buildings, picnic areas, playgrounds and recreation equipment.
  • May supervise community restitution workers and perform on-call duties.
  • Must be able to work extra hours, holidays, weekends and shifts as assigned.
