Job summary

Bexar County Public Works Fleet Maintenance seeks an Automotive Service Worker to perform tire mounting/dismounting, basic preventive maintenance and equipment installation on County vehicles. You will assist mechanics, service propane fuel systems, and handle tire-related tasks and routine engine care.

Requires a high school diploma or GED and 1 year automotive shop experience. Valid Texas license and background checks required. Full time work with possible overtime.

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or GED certificate.
• One year experience in an automotive shop with tires mounting/dismounting and repair.
• Knowledge of tire changing equipment and patching; familiarity with tire balancer.

Responsibilities

• Remove, repair or replace and mount vehicle tires including lawn equipment tires.
• Balance tires on a computer balancer and install/remove emergency equipment on police vehicles.
• Install and remove accessory equipment and organizational markings/graphics.
• Drive county vehicles to destinations as needed.
• Replace brake pads/rotors, starters, alternators, batteries, spark plugs, belts; service fuel systems on propane vehicles.
• Change oil/filters and lubricate vehicles; assist mechanics with tasks.
