Job summary

The City of Heath is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform a variety of tasks in the upkeep of parks, open spaces, and related facilities. You will operate basic repair, carpentry, plumbing, irrigation, and landscaping tasks as part of daily duties.

This non-supervisory role requires a high school diploma and at least one year of related experience; a Texas Class C license is required, with Class B CDL preferred. You may respond to emergencies and help with special events.

Qualifications

• High school graduation plus one year of related experience.
• Or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Appropriate, valid class "C" commercial Texas driver's license. Class "B" CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains all parks and recreation facilities, equipment, amenities, and grounds, including sports fields, courts, and playgrounds.
• Performs minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete work, painting, and landscaping.
• Assists in performing tree-care maintenance in parks, open spaces, along trails, and in other City properties as needed.
• Calibrates and maintains irrigation sprinklers.
• Collects and disposes of litter and debris.
• Cleans restrooms, common areas, and seating areas, within park and recreation facilities as needed.
• Assists in performing turf maintenance in and around streets, parks, trails, and facilities.
• Set up and break down for special and recreation events as needed.
• Responds to emergency calls during and after regular work hours.
• Fulfills daily maintenance call requests/requirements from City staff.
• Other duties as assigned.
