Job summary

Carroll County Government is seeking a Road Maintenance Worker to support our Public Works - Roads Operations at the Maintenance Center in Westminster, MD. The role involves flagging, operating power tools, and maintaining county roadways under supervision of a Foreman.

Position is full-time (40 hours/week) with overtime opportunities and on-call/call-back pay. Requires a valid driver's license and MD DOT physical. Summer/winter hours apply; background check required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Up to one year of related experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirement.

Responsibilities

• Perform traffic control duties including flagging traffic and setting up traffic control devices.
• Operate various power tools and small equipment, e.g., mowers, rollers, weed eaters, tampers, chain saws, air compressors/jack hammers; assist in maintaining equipment and tools.
• Perform maintenance tasks: digging, cleaning ditches and drains, shoveling, spreading blacktop/stone, clearing debris, sweeping streets, mowing.
• Maintain vehicles, including vehicle inspection reports as required by DOT.
• Assist drivers with hooking up equipment and backing of trucks.
• Perform snow removal as needed.
• Follow safety rules; maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
