Job summary

Gila County is seeking a semi-skilled worker for construction, repair, and maintenance of roads, rights-of-way, and related structures. The role involves operating a variety of heavy equipment in line with safety regulations.

You may be assigned to the Roads Division or the Recycling & Landfill Division, and work across both areas as needed on a temporary basis. The position may require training colleagues and performing traffic control and related tasks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years' road construction and equipment operation experience.
• Experience in landfill operations acceptable.
• Must have a valid driver's license and CDL Class A within 9 months.
• Drug and alcohol testing may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operates road construction and maintenance equipment safely and in accordance with regulations.
• Grades roads, paves, repairs, and maintains ditches and culverts; clears debris.
• Coordinates inmate work detail in the department.
• Performs manual labor and assists landfill customers; loads and unloads materials.
• Follows safety rules for work zones and flagging sites; manages traffic control.
• Hauls materials and transports vehicles to job sites; inspects and reports repairs.
• Performs routine equipment checks and maintenance; documents issues.
• May train and mentor other personnel.
