Job summary

Gila County is seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to perform semi-skilled work in the construction, repair and maintenance of roads, right-of-ways and related facilities. You will operate a variety of heavy equipment and assist with safety compliance in field operations.

The position may be assigned to Roads or Recycling & Landfill divisions on a temporary basis, requiring flexibility, teamwork and adherence to all safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

• Two years of road construction and equipment operation experience.
• Valid Driver's License; written portion of CDL within 3 months; Class A CDL by 9 months.
• Ability to perform physically demanding manual labor.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations for solid waste disposal.

Responsibilities

• Operate road construction and landfill equipment safely per regulations.
• Grade, pave, patch roads and maintain drainage.
• Coordinate Department of Corrections inmate work detail.
• Perform manual labor including cleanup and debris removal.
• Follow traffic control safety and landfill safety procedures.
• Haul materials and inspect/maintain equipment.
• Provide emergency road services as needed.
