Job summary

Gila County in Payson, Arizona is seeking a dedicated road maintenance worker to support the construction, repair and maintenance of roads, ditches, and related infrastructure. The role involves operating multiple types of heavy equipment in line with safety regulations and performing essential landfill duties as needed.

You will be assigned to the Roads Division or Recycling & Landfill Division and may work in either division on a temporary basis, handling tasks from grading to debris

Responsibilities

• Operate various types of construction equipment in accordance with safety regulations and procedures.
• Grade roads, pave roads, replace asphalt, patch and repair roads, and maintain ditches and culverts.
• Perform traffic control activities including setting up signs and flagging traffic; direct traffic at landfill.
• Haul materials and transport vehicles/equipment to jobsites; inspect and perform routine checks on trucks and heavy equipment.
• Coordinate inmate work details and assist landfill customers with unloading refuse and separating recyclables.
