Job summary

Amtrak is seeking a Road Foreman Trainer I to oversee and mentor locomotive engineers and trainees in Washington, DC. The role ensures safe train operations, compliance with federal and internal rules, and effective training programs.

The candidate will manage certifications, conduct evaluations, and uphold safety initiatives across the territory. The position emphasizes leadership, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to coordinate with multiple departments to optimize performance and safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 2 years' operating experience as train service engineer and/or road foreman.
• PTC Qualified and territory knowledge.
• Available 24 hours per day / 7 days per week, including holidays and weekends.
• Prior satisfactory work experience in train or passenger service.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage locomotive engineers and trainees, including onboarding and performance management.
• Oversee train operations and crew performance with Road Trainmaster to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Ensure regulatory and policy compliance with operating rules, regulations, and labor agreements.
• Manage engineer certification, recertification, and training programs; document training activities.
• Promote safety initiatives and maintain employee records; implement safety plans.
