Job summary

Amtrak’s Road Foreman role oversees safe, efficient train movement and supervision of T&E crews for MARC Commuter Service. You’ll enforce Amtrak rules, manage certifications, and drive performance improvements in a dynamic, safety‑driven environment.

The incumbent will lead staff, coordinate with the road trainmaster, and ensure compliance with federal/state regulations while maintaining records and overseeing training programs. The role requires flexibility and on‑call readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation, Business or related field, or equivalent work experience may be considered.
• 3 years of prior relevant experience required.
• Qualified as a designated supervisor of locomotive engineers.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to engineers.
• Oversee operation in coordination with road trainmaster in compliance with rules and regulations.
• Ensure compliance with policies and operating practices; monitor records and train operations.
• Manage and supervise locomotive engineer certification requirements and recertification courses.
• Conduct efficiency tests and report on performance to improve OTP and service delivery.
