Job summary

CPKC is seeking a Road Foreman to educate, promote and monitor safe work practices for locomotive crews within a defined territory. You will ensure adherence to operating rules, safety policies, and procedures to improve safety and compliance.

The role requires coaching and mentoring locomotive engineers and conductors, coordinating field training and recurring certifications. Site location: Kansas City, MO, with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Minimum 2+ years as a qualified railway locomotive engineer.
• Strong knowledge of GCOR rules and regulations.
• Familiarity with collective agreements and their application.
• Effective communication and instructional skills.
• Ability to coach, train and mentor engineers and conductors.

Responsibilities

• Perform locomotive engineer field evaluations.
• Plan remedial training for deficiencies.
• Coordinate all conductor new hire training including field on-the-job training oversight.
• Coordinate and oversee triennial recertification training for conductors and locomotive engineers.
• Perform field efficiency testing.
• Provide input to training content based on field evaluations and proficiency testing.
• Deliver skills training for conductors and locomotive engineers in the area of responsibility.
• Provide expert analysis of train handling issues and implement corrective training when required.
• Provide on-call support and emergency response on a rotating cycle (24/7).
