Job summary

A. Morton Thomas & Associates, Inc. (AMT, Inc.) is seeking a Construction Inspector to support DDOT infrastructure projects. You will conduct field observations, document findings, track quantities, and verify workmanship and safety on site.

Role requires ability to read plans, manage daily reports, and coordinate with the Resident Engineer/Construction Manager. Night work and weekend shifts may be required; strong teamwork and independence are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2–5 years of construction inspection experience on roadway and/or bridge projects.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Experience with field documentation and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Inspect contractor operations for compliance with contract plans, specifications and DDOT standards/procedures.
• Prepare daily Inspector Daily Reports (IDRs) documenting work performed, labor, equipment, and weather; maintain complete inspection records.
• Measure and record quantities of installed work daily; verify contractor-reported quantities and support pay estimates with field data.
• Observe materials, installation methods, and workmanship; ensure testing per specifications; identify non-conforming work and recommend acceptance or rejection.
• Coordinate daily with contractor superintendents and crews, Resident Engineer/Construction Manager; communicate field conditions and progress; assist in resolving minor field issues.
• Monitor safety in active work zones; identify unsafe conditions and enforce safe practices.
• Typical projects include urban roadway reconstruction, bridge demolition/reconstruction, utilities, and streetscape improvements.
