Job summary

Lewis and Clark County Public Works is seeking two Equipment Operators to maintain and repair roads and bridges in the Road and Bridge Division. Work is performed under supervision, with a 10-hour Monday-Thursday schedule and CDL with tanker endorsement preferred.

Training for Class A CDL is provided, and candidates must obtain CDL within six months of hire. The role involves operating a wide range of heavy equipment, performing maintenance, and contributing to stormwater and safety projects

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent and one year road maintenance/construction experience.
• Valid Class A CDL; tanker endorsement preferred (training and certification provided if not possessed).
• Completion of an apprenticeship may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Responsibilities

• Perform road maintenance and repairs including patching, grading, sweeping, snow plowing, drainage and dust control.
• Operate heavy equipment such as plow trucks, dump trucks, rollers, loaders, backhoes, dozers and related vehicles.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs.
• Assist in bridge installation and repair using excavators, backhoes, bobcats and pneumatic tools.
• Maintain culverts, guardrails, signage, and perform traffic control as needed.
• Engage in flood control operations and other emergency responses; perform other duties as assigned.
