Job summary

Lewis and Clark County Public Works is seeking a skilled mechanic for the Public Works Shop in Helena, MT. You will maintain and repair a variety of county vehicles and equipment, with a focus on large road-building and support vehicles.

A valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement is preferred, with certification available if needed. The position features a Monday–Thursday, 10-hour shift schedule and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 3 years of mechanic experience.
• Valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement preferred; ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with equipment.
• Inspect road construction equipment and trucks.
• Complete required shop maintenance records.
• Operate or assist with snow removal equipment as needed.
