Job summary

Boundary County is seeking a full-time Heavy Equipment Operator for the Road & Bridge Department. The role involves operating and maintaining a variety of heavy equipment on county roads, including trucks, graders, bulldozers, loaders, and paving equipment, as well as performing related manual tasks and safety responsibilities.

You will assist in maintenance, repair, and construction activities such as culvert work, bridge work, chip-sealing, asphalt paving and signage, with attention to safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of two years in a related field.
• Background in heavy equipment operation.
• Must maintain a valid Idaho Commercial Drivers License Class A.
• Must be able to pass exams and acquire CDL endorsements "tanker" within six months of hire date.
• Must maintain a valid ATSSA (American Traffic Safety Services Association) registered flaggers card at all times (requires training and re-certification every 3 years), and must complete Idaho T2 Traffic control Technician course within first 3 years of employment.
• Must complete MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) "New Employee abd Hazard Awareness Training for Miners" within six months of hire date.
• All employees are required to complete "Annual Refresher Training for Miners" on a yearly basis.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains a variety of heavy equipment used in maintenance, repair and construction of the County Road & Bridge System.
• Assists in maintenance, repair and construction of county roads and bridges, including culvert installation, bridge demolition and paving and marking.
• Operates portable jaw and cone-type crushing units, salt brine systems, and other equipment for production of sand, gravel and asphalt products.
• Performs routine maintenance on all equipment and may perform major repairs including welding and fabrication.
• Follows all safety rules and reports unusual situations to supervisor or Road Foreman.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
