Job summary

RS&H in Tucson, AZ is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer for our Transportation-Construction Management team. You will support the Resident Engineer in managing roadway and bridge construction and inspection projects, overseeing field staff and contractor operations. Responsibilities include estimates, change orders, schedules, and contract interpretation, while serving as a primary liaison for owners and contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• 8-10 years of experience with major road or bridge construction.
• Experience managing construction projects, including contract administration, pay estimates, change orders, and schedule review.
• Must obtain required certifications and pass appropriate qualifications tests for the position in specified time frames.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Support the Resident Engineer in managing roadway and bridge construction and inspection projects.
• Oversee field inspection staff and contractor operations.
• Prepare and review progress and final estimates, evaluate change orders and claims, review schedules, interpret contract documents, check engineering calculations, and ensure conformity with plans and specifications.
• Act as a key point of contact for owners, contractors, and project stakeholders.
