Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's PennDOT is seeking a CDL Operator Trainee to learn operating highway construction and maintenance equipment on a full-time basis. You will train to obtain required certifications and work with a team to keep roads and bridges safe for the traveling public.

As you develop, you will perform inspections, operate trucks and loaders, and complete manual labor tasks while following safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License on hire.
• Active Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on first day.
• Medical Examiner’s Certificate required prior to start per FMCSA rules.

Responsibilities

• Training and Licensing: Learn to obtain equipment certifications and operation procedures.
• Equipment Operation: Operate trucks, loaders, and related controls; inspect and adjust as needed.
• Manual Labor Tasks: Use hand and power tools for maintenance and construction tasks.
• Worksite Safety: Follow safety procedures; report hazards; maintain a safe work environment.
• Environmental Practices: Participate in training and apply responsible work methods.
