Job summary

FutureCare is seeking a Skin Care Coordinator in Annapolis, MD to lead wound care and skin disorder management for residents. The role emphasizes prevention, treatment, and collaboration with the Care Planning Team to ensure best practices.

You will supervise wound care activities and contribute to ongoing training for staff. Ideal candidates hold Maryland RN licensure with active wound care certification and at least one year of skilled nursing facility experience.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current RN license in Maryland.
• Must have an active certification in wound care.
• At least one year experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred.
• Previous experience in skin care treatment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identify, manage, and treat specific skin disorders.
• Oversee all direct wound care activities to ensure practices are consistent.
• Coordinate weekly skin rounds.
• Perform assessment evaluations using observation and inspection.
• Collaborate with Care Planning Team on treatment for skin disorders within wound care protocol.
• Monitor preventive measures such as inspection, turning, and positioning.
• Assist in modifying treatment regimens to resident needs per medical practices and facility policies.
• Provide information to residents and caregivers on prevention techniques and general health.
• Precept new nurses and demonstrate procedures to new nursing staff.
• Participate in in-service training on dermatologic nursing skills and procedures.
• Participate in Performance Improvement programs such as wound and nutrition committee.
• Complete and follow through on incident reports as appropriate.

• Confer with the Care Planning Team in the development of treatment forskin disorders within established wound care protocol
• Monitor the use of preventive measures such as inspection, turning and positioning
• Assist in modifying the treatment regimen to meet the needs of the resident, in accordance with established medical practices, the regulatory guidelines and the policies and goals of this facility
• Provide information to resident and caregivers on prevention techniques and other ways to maintain or improve the general health and psychosocial status of the resident
• Precept new nurses and demonstrate individual procedures to new nursing staff
• Participate as requested in the planning and conducting of in-service training classes concerning dermatologic nursing skills and procedures used within the facility
• Participate in Performance Improvement program as assigned such as wound and nutrition committee
• Complete and provide follow through on all incident reports as appropriate
• Abides by the standards identified in FutureCare’s Statement of Corporate Ethics and the Corporate Compliance Plan

Qualifications

• Must hold a current certification and RN license in Maryland
• Must have an active certification in wound care
• At least one-year experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred
• Previous experience in skin care treatment a plus
• Must possess a positive and professional attitude
• Ability to work independently and accurately to complete required documentation
• Ability to demonstrate positive and effective communication skills to facilitate positive interpersonal interaction
• Ability to remain calm and patient when dealing with residents
• Ability to problem solve and work well under pressure
• Ability to show empathy and compassion while interacting with residents to increase their comfort level
