Job summary

Aston Group is seeking an experienced Unit Manager to oversee day-to-day patient care in a long-term care setting. The role directs nursing staff, ensures quality care, and coordinates with the Director of Nursing to uphold regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate has an RN license in NY with 5+ years of nursing experience and at least 1 year in a nurse supervisor role. LTC experience and CPR/BLS certification are preferred, PCC/SigmaCare knowledge a bonus.

Qualifications

  • Must hold valid RN License in NY.
  • Minimum 5+ years nursing experience in a hospital, nursing home or other healthcare setting and a minimum 1-year experience as a nurse supervisor.
  • LTC experience preferred.
  • CPR/BLS certified.
  • PCC/SigmaCare experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with patients and others.
  • Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Maintains nursing operations by coordinating and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Assures quality of care by interpreting standards and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staff.
  • Schedules and assigns nursing staff; follows up on work results.
  • Coaches and counsels staff; plans and appraises job performance.
  • Provides compassionate environment and supports patients, families, and friends.
  • Promotes patient independence by teaching care goals and self-care skills.
  • Resolves patient needs by multidisciplinary teamwork.
