Job summary

Sheppard Pratt Health System in Towson, MD seeks an experienced Unit Manager for the 21-bed Thought Disorders Unit, serving patients with psychotic illnesses under a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include 24-hour operational management, budget oversight, staffing with safe therapeutic care, and clinical leadership in care planning.

A Bachelor’s in nursing and active Maryland RN license are required; experience in inpatient psychiatric nursing is essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in nursing and at least 2 years of inpatient psychiatric nursing experience.
For those without a bachelor's degree, a diploma nursing program with at least 4 years of inpatient psychiatric nursing experience.
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Maryland.

Responsibilities

Provide 24-hour operational management of the unit.
Manage expense budgets and staffing to meet census and budget targets.
Respond to changes in patient acuity and census to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
Utilize clinical expertise in direct patient care, consultative activities, staff development, and treatment planning.
Participate in marketing activities and promote teamwork, quality improvement and customer relations.
Supervise nursing, rehabilitation services, and support staff.
