Job summary

UNC Medical Center's Transplant 5 West unit is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 36-hour work week with 12-hour night shifts. The team cares for abdominal transplant, urology, and plastic surgery patients in a 15-bed unit with beacon excellence.

Responsibilities include patient education, care coordination, and interdepartmental collaboration to deliver high-quality care. Must hold NC RN licensure and BLS; 1 year of nursing experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
• One (1) year of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Education: identifies learning needs and attends education programs; uses patient education materials relevant to population.
• Evaluation of Care: identifies outcomes and collaborates with the team to revise the plan.
• Implementation: cares for patients with complex problems and prioritizes patient needs.
• Leadership: supports goals, communicates effectively, and fosters teamwork.
• Patient Assessment: synthesizes data to plan care and supports discharge planning.
• Planning: develops and updates the care plan with multidisciplinary resources.
• Research: reviews journals and brings ideas for assessment.
