Job summary

UNC Health Care seeks a Registered Nurse for the 5 West unit (Abdominal Transplant, Urology, and Plastic Surgery). This full-time role offers 36 hours per week on 12-hour day or night shifts with rotating schedules. The unit provides advanced inpatient transplant and surgical care with a Beacon Award-winning culture.

The RN will coordinate and deliver patient care using the nursing process, participate in education, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
• One year of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Education – Identify learning needs and participate in education programs.
• Evaluation of Care – Identify expected patient outcomes and participate in interdisciplinary discussions.
• Implementation – Demonstrate competence in care of complex patients and prioritize care.
• Leadership – Promote professional growth and contribute to unit goals.
• Patient Assessment – Gather data and plan for discharge.
• Planning – Collaborate with patient/family and multidisciplinary resources.
• Research – Read relevant journals and bring ideas to staff.
