Job summary

Registered Nurse – 5 West/ Abdominal Transplant, Urology, and Plastic Surgery Unit at UNC Health. 36 hours per week with 12-hour day shifts. Full-time with comprehensive benefits.

Unit provides specialized care for abdominal transplant, urology, and complex plastic surgery patients. The team is part of UNC Medical Center with Beacon Award for Excellence recognition and high transplant outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.

Responsibilities

• Education: identifies learning needs, attends education programs, assesses readiness to learn.
• Evaluation of Care: identifies expected outcomes, revises plan with interdisciplinary team, communicates for continuity of care.
• Implementation: provides care for patients with complex problems, performs bedside testing, follows policies and procedures.
• Leadership: sets growth goals, promotes collaboration, supports cost-effective care.
• Patient Assessment: prioritizes care needs, assesses discharge planning needs, builds family partnerships.
• Planning: coordinates with patient/family and multidisciplinary resources, addresses cultural/ethnic planning considerations.
• Research: reads journals and shares applicable ideas with staff.
